Published Fan-fiction

Austen fan-fiction is not limited to the Internet. Many published works have taken Austen’s characters and themes in new directions. Earlier this year, Austen fans divided over the publication of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a parody that brings together the Bennet family and a troupe of flesh-eating zombies. The success of the book, which became a New York Times bestseller, set off a certain zombie-frenzy, while Grahame-Smith’s publisher, Quirk Books, recently announced it will release a sequel, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, in September.
