Claire's Final Twilight Fanfic

Prologue: Edward disappears on a hunting trip. Everyone is worried because Alice didn’t see this happening. The Cullens go looking for him and leave Bella in the care of Jacob and the wolves. Bella turns to Jacob for comfort. Sometime passes (Cullens are still trying to find Edward) Jacob falls in love with Bella. After about a couple of months Edward suddenly arrives back in Forks and rushes to see Bella only to see Jacob and Bella walking in the forest together and that she is pregnant. But where has Edward been? Why couldn’t the Cullens find him? Why didn’t Alice see him leaving? What is going to happen when Bella sees Edward? Who will she choose?

He always hated leaving me, and I hated him leaving too, but I could see the thirst in his eyes. It was the usual façade of hiking on the weekend. Edward was going alone this time, but he said he would be back as soon as he could.

Alice and I were going to have a sleep over. I dreaded these, it was always so tiring being her Barbie doll to dress up and put make up on.

“Be safe, try not to hurt yourself while I’m gone.” Edward said with a smirk on his face.

“I’ll do my best.” I said returning his smirk.

With a quick but passionate kiss he was gone. And I was on my way to Alice’s for our sleep over. When I arrived Alice was at the front door waiting for me with an excited smile across her face.

“Hi Bella!”

“Hey Alice, so what’s the plan for tonight?” I said hesitantly, hoping it wouldn’t be too painful.

“I thought we could paint our nails and give each other facials.”

“Hmm sure!” I said trying to hide my discomfort; Alice knows I’m not one for girlie things.

The night went surprisingly fast. Not as painful as I thought, I suppose I’m getting used to Alice’s girlie nights. After our facials I went to bed, all this pampering makes you very sleepy. I slept soundly, in the bed that Edward had bought for me for when I stay. I woke up early; I could hear a lot of movement downstairs. I got up, dressed and went downstairs. Esme and Alice were in the kitchen making me breakfast. It was very kind, as they don’t eat. I blushed as they made a fuss over me asking what I like, they made way too much just for on person. I ate as much as I could still there was plenty left over. I told Alice that I was going to go to visit Jacob, she looked at me for a while then handed me a cell phone and told me to call when I needed picking up. I took it and headed out the door.

Jacob and I spent the whole day together, just hanging out in his garage chatting away while he worked on his car. I loved hanging out with Jake he was my best friend. It’s so easy with him, until he starts up “you’ll be better off with me” speech. Then things get a bit awkward until I change the subject or we end up having a fight and then he apologizes and we go back to being best friends. I didn’t realize how late it was until I stepped outside it was pitch black. I rang Alice to come get me.

Alice picked me up from the boarder, the line that the Cullens can’t cross over onto Quileute’s land. She was very strange in the car, not driving the usual excessive speed that the Cullens drove at.

“What’s wrong Alice?”

“Wait till we get home I’ll tell you then”

“No Alice tell me now, its Edward isn’t it?”

“ Yes, but wait till we’re home we’ll explain then.”

“No Alice tell me now!”

“Ok Ok please don’t freak out just yet” she paused for what seemed like eternity. “Edward hasn’t returned, we don’t know where he is. Jasper, Emmet and Carlisle have been out searching for him but they can find no trace of him. And I can’t see him in my visions.” She said the last part very slowly.

“WHAT! How can that be?”

“I don’t know.” She turned and looked at me, the tears streaming down my face. I couldn’t hold them back any longer. “Don’t worry Bella we’ll find him.”

When we arrived at the house Esme greeted me with a hug at the door, everyone else was in find Edward mode. Carlisle and Jasper were deep in conversation; Emmet and Rosalie were at the table looking at maps. I was guided to the couch. I was numb. Everything seemed like a blur. Everyone was coming and going only Esme was by my side looking after me she put a blanket on me and just sat stroking my hair. Alice was off trying to see Edward in her visions. When I woke Esme was still beside me but everything was quiet.

“Where is everyone? Has Edward come back?”

“No Bella, Alice managed a glimpse of him, so Alice and Jasper went about 3 hours ago to follow it up. Carlisle and I are going to visit some other vampires to see if they have seen him. Rosalie and Emmet are going to take you to stay with Jacob and the wolves, you’ll be safe with them.”

Tears spilled over, a constant flow unstoppable. All I could manage was a nod. Esme hugged me lead me to the car where Emmet and Rosalie were waiting.

The next few weeks were a blur, Jacob tried everything to cheer me up but all I could do was cry and sleep. I had constant up dates from the Cullens. Emmet and Rosalie were following a lead, but nothing else was new. Still no sign of him, no message nothing. My dreams became nightmares, I would wake up crying, Jacob had this frightened look in his eyes when I would wake up crying and couldn’t stop. All he could do was hug me until I had no more tears to cry.

Another 2 weeks went by I was back at school, still numb just trying to get through the day. Alice and Jasper had come back. She was surrounding herself with Edwards’s things trying to get another vision.

It was Friday afternoon School had finished early for the day and I was watching Jacob fix his car when my mind trailed off. That’s funny I thought, counting in my head, I’m never late. I immediately stood up and went to the bathroom and looked down at my little swollen belly. In a trance I walked out the door past the garage and into the forest Jacob trailing behind wondering what was going on. I walked for a while, just wandering no particular direction in mind, thinking about the baby. I came to the boarder and started walking along it clutching my swollen belly. I couldn’t hear Jacob behind me, but just kept walking then all of a sudden I herd a wolfs growl, Jacob’s growl. I whirled around to see Jacob and Edward growling and hissing at each other. I ran forward between them. Edward looked at me then to my belly sadness and horror glazed over his eyes. I had no time to explain I was suddenly pushed out of the way. When I looked up Edward and Jacob were leaping toward each other teeth bared.

Can Bella stop them in time? Can she explain? Who will she choose Edward or Jacob who has been looking after her never leaving her side?
